Jason Aldean hit 30 years old in February and he has already been singing, writing songs and playing guitar for over 15 years. His self-titled debut CD, "Amarillo Sky," was released in 2005. Now he is set to release a second album on May 29, "Relentless." The new music continues Aldean’s "in your face" style, but also shows how quickly his musical talents are maturing. With the first track, "Johnny Cash," Aldean displays his attitude rock style
that propelled his first hit song, "Hicktown" up the charts. The song is about
blowing off work and hitting the road. John Rich (Big and Rich) was one of the
co-writers for this song and several others and Aldean seems naturally drawn to
this type of edgy lyrics and driving beat. Another good example is "Do You Wish
It Was Me?" |

"When the sun slowly chases the moon from the sky Another song, "Grown Woman," is a great duet with another rising singer, Miranda Lambert. There are also several ballads that seem related to the singer’s own experiences, including "Laughed Until we Cried," that looks back on family life and about lost love in "My Memory Ain’t What It Used To Be." Aldean was named top ACM New Male Vocalist with his first CD and with the new music, he makes it clear he deserved that award and many more to come. |
