Gretchen Wilson Heats Up!

Want to make a hot summer week night special? Find a Gretchen Wilson concert in your area and rock out. Wilson appeared under the big top at the South Shore Music Circus on Thursday night and left the audience steaming!

From the first chords of “Here for the Party,” Wilson proved that she could rock. She and her eight piece band moved smoothly from song to song – from quiet, heart-felt ballads to raucous honky-tonks. The set included boot stompers like “All Jacked Up” and “You Don’t Have to Go Home.” There was also heavy applause for a quieter moment with “I Don’t Feel Like Loving You Today.”

The fans especially appreciated the title song from her latest CD, “One of the Boys.” She seemed to be talking about her own life:

“I still got this little girl inside of me
That likes to be treated like a queen
I know I don’t act much like a lady
But I still need to be somebody’s baby.”

At the end of the show, Wilson said she couldn’t leave the stage without first proving that she was a “redneck” and launched into her first hit, “Redneck Woman.” She made her way out of the venue to a full throated chorus of her fans screaming “hell yeah!”
