Elvis in Memphis

In 1969, Elvis Presley returned to a Memphis recording studio after 13 years of recoding in Nashville and Hollywood. His return resulted in two albums and several hit singles. Now on the 40th anniversary the albums are being re-released as “From Elvis in Memphis: Legacy Edition.”

Disc one of the collection includes the 12 songs from the 1969 original “From Elvis in Memphis” album and 4 additional tracks from several later releases.  Included is the hit song, “In the Ghetto” and several country favorites including, “It Keeps Right on A-Hurtin’,” and “Gentle on My Mind.”  An especially interesting tack is one of the bonus songs, “Hey Jude,” the Beatles hit done in Elvis’ unique style.

Disc two includes the 10 sons from “The Original Mono Single Masters,” plus 10 bonus songs, including “Suspicious Minds” and “Kentucky Rain.”

Elvis was remains a musical icon so many years after his death. Many of today’s top country performers include him as inspiration in their own musical styles—but there is no one that can truly emulate his unique vocal style. This album is a great way to get back in touch with Elvis’ music and for the younger listeners to hear why he is still an American musical wonder.
